Bob
Haugen, President of Haugen Custom Financial Systems, has written fourteen
books, published in seven languages, including
Modern Investment Theory, in its fifth edition. Modern is
widely used in M.B.A. courses throughout the world. In The
Incredible January Effect , Haugen introduced the celebrated
January effect to the investment community. In the recently published third
edition of The New Finance, he questions
the concept of aggregation in economic modeling on the basis of
complexity and uniqueness of individual interactions. This book was required
reading on the Chartered Financial Analysts’ examination for five years.
Having published the first academic
article documenting the nature and power of the expected return factor
model in The Journal of Financial Economics in
1996, Haugen is considered to be the father of this important,
quantitative investment tool. He explains the model and its findings in The
Inefficient Stock Market – What
Pays Off and Why, now in its second edition.
Haugen has held endowed chairs at
the University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois, and the University of
California. Articles have appeared on his work in Business Week, Money, Smart
Money, The Herald Tribune, and many other publications. Some of these

He has made guest appearances on CNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS.
Haugen is currently President of
Haugen Custom Financial Systems, providing estimates of the expected returns
for 8,000 stocks world-wide to institutional investors.
